Bluebonnets
The bluebonnets are blooming and are just beautiful this year! I can't believe how they have just exploded all over the place. We went out last night to attempt pictures. My awesome neighbor Jamie came with me to help out, which I was so thankful.
It's amazing how much easier it is to photograph an older kid rather than a baby.
Unfortunately it was after 5 PM, so Caleb was. not. happy.
We tried having him sit with Luke, hoping that would help. It didn't.
Soo...
Caleb and I went back out today, but to a different location. It was cloudy, so I went right after he woke up from his nap. But the sun peeked out of the clouds as soon as we stepped out of the car. I got some cute shots of him not looking at me...
You can tell in the last picture that he's squinting. Oh, well. Maybe we'll attempt again at some point with both boys. Maybe I'll just take what I got. At least I got some...this is only the second time for us to take bluebonnet pictures and Luke is almost five! {Although after my experience with Caleb, I remember now why I didn't!}

Ridge Hunt 2012
Ridge Hunt is our church's annual Easter egg hunt. It was different this year than the past four years. This year it was after church and part of the "WRBC Spring Fling". There were four food trucks set up where people could purchase lunch, and the egg hunts went on during all of this.
The only bad part was by the time we got out of church, got to the car to get all of our stuff - stroller, baskets, picnic blanket, etc - the lines for the food were extremely long. So we didn't have time to wait in line because the hunts would be starting soon. So we drove thu Taco Casa on the way home.
It was a little disappointing this year only because Ridge Hunt in the years past has been SO much fun. Bounce houses, petting zoo, fire truck...plus the egg hunts. And this year it was H.O.T. First time it has ever been hot for a Ridge Hunt. But it was also kind of a blessing that there wasn't all that stuff because by the time church was over, Caleb was exhausted. He passed out in the car practically before we got out of the parking lot. So we wouldn't have been able to stay for all that, and Luke would have been crushed. So it worked out, honestly. And anyway, as Luke says, "You get what you get and you don't throw a fit."

Poor Caleb!
My extremely happy baby turned an ugly corner about 3 PM today. He started crying in a way that I have never heard him cry before, ate a bottle, slept an hour, and woke up with a 101+ fever. He was inconsolable, Since it was 4:30 PM I called the pediatrician's office to see if there was any way to get in that afternoon, or see if I could make an appointment for first thing in the morning.
The nurse I talked to could hear him screaming on the phone so she told me to come on in. We got there a little before 5 PM and saw the NP. His ears are clear, which is what I figured was wrong with him. But she said his throat was pretty red so she wanted to do a strep test. My first thought was - Man! I don't want to pay for a strep test. Awesome mom here. Anyway, we waited for it and guess what...he has strep throat. My POOR BABY! He is just pitiful. It's so flipping sad. Luke didn't get strep until he was almost FOUR and Caleb has it at 10 months. I feel so bad for him...but at the same time I'm glad that my spur of the moment rush to the doctor was justified. I'd have felt really stupid if she'd looked at me and declared he was just teething.
So now he's on amox for the next 10 days, which is going to turn into a horrific diaper rash, I'm sure. Poor baby. I'm so ready for the sick season to be OVER. Caleb's had a rough fall/winter. Hopefully this means he's going to end up with an amazing immune system.

Playing at the Mall
Luke has always loved riding the carousel at the mall in Arlington. We used to go up there very often to let him ride. Since Caleb was born we haven't gone at all - until today! My stay-at-home-mom's Bible study group was meeting up there to have a playdate, so I figured why not? Luke was super excited and I knew Caleb would love it, too.
Luke is now big enough to ride by himself. That was an emotional realization for me. However, it worked to my advantage. I rode with them twice before I just couldn't handle the motion anymore, so then Caleb and I sat down to watch and wave at Luke. Luke gave us a huge smile and wave every time he passed by {unlike this forced smile and wave for the camera}, and Caleb clapped and squealed every time he saw big brother.
Caleb did great sitting up on his horse and holding on. Seriously he's getting too big too fast.
See...he loved it.
From there we went to the little play area in the middle of the mall. Luke was the oldest one there - first time that's ever happened...another emotional moment for me - but he was sweet to all the little ones. Caleb crawled around for a bit before I got tired of chasing him, so I stuck him in this little boat and he was in heaven! He stayed there until we left.
Another video...he had a blast! I love seeing his personality shining through already.

I pulled this out over the weekend just to see what Caleb would think. Luke got it around this time. Poor second child getting a faded old toy that doesn't even play music or talk or do any of the things it originally did...but he didn't care because he finally had a toy to play with outside!

Dallas Arboretum
The boys and I went to the Dallas Arboretum with my parents over Spring Break. The flowers were so pretty and the weather was perfect - not too hot, and not too sunny. We all had a great time walking around, enjoying the view.
