Funny Conversations with Luke

Background: There's a pink magnifying mirror on the counter in my bathroom. Luke was asking about it the other day.

Luke: Mom, who gave you that?
Me: Nana.
Luke looks confused: You mean Mammie?
Me: No, Nana gave it to me.
Luke: Mom, I just don't understand.

I guess he thinks that my mom is the only one who can give me gifts.

Then we were driving to Dallas and went over the lake.

Luke: There's Lake Belton!
Me: No, that's not Lake Belton. That's Joe Pool.
Luke looks confused: Mom, that's not a pool. That's a lake.

Bible Stories

One thing I love is listening to Luke tell us about the Bible stories he is learning at church. I didn't go to church growing up so it's amazing to me that he is already remembering enough to come home and regale Nate and me with stories.

What we've heard so far:
Jonah: "Jonah disobeyed God. He got swallowed by a big fish."

- David and Goliath: "Goliath was a mean, mean giant. David was a little guy. He threw the stone and Goliath fell DOWN!"

- Moses and Pharoah: "Mean king Pharoah was a bad, bad king. He spanked God's people with a wooden spoon. Moses was sad. Moses told Pharoah to let God's people go."

- Hannah: "Hannah was sad because she couldn't have a baby. But then she was happy because she got her baby!"

New Luke Quotes

Finally updated "Luke's Lingo" with some of his latest quotes:

"That's my girl"
"Wanna hear somethin' funny?"
"We can 'atend" (pretend)
"You 'member..." (remember) - insert anything behind it. My current favorite is "You 'member A-Rod? He's a bad, bad guy." Wonder who taught him that? ;)

Trip to Temple 2010

We headed down to Temple this weekend to visit Beth and Justin for the first time. They live about 20 minutes from Belton Lake so we brought the boat with us and headed to the lake Saturday morning.

Belton Lake is very pretty and the water was amazing. We got out there around 9 AM so the lake wasn't crowded and it was like glass. Definitely the best wakeboarding water we've had all year.

I had to take a picture of my dad sending a text message. Definitely a sight I never thought I would see!

Luke's job was to find out if the person in the water wanted to go again...thumbs up was yes, thumbs down was no. He took this job seriously.

After all the skiing, wakeboarding, and kneeboarding, we cruised the lake a bit. Luke was exhausted from a combination of kneeboarding (seriously - check out the slideshow of pics!) and a sugar high (see what he's clenching even in his sleep!)


The cat nap on the boat didn't stop him from sleeping over two hours back and Beth and Justin's house. We left all the boys at home and my mom, Beth and I went to see the movie Ramona & Beezus - super cute!! When we got home I found my boys like this and it melted my heart.

New Tent

My mom got Luke this cool tent at BB&B last week. It has been a huge hit! His favorite part is the tunnel.

Let's Go Swimming

We went to the community pool (aka "the neighbor's pool") with my mom and dad last Saturday, July 31st. Mammie and Boppa couldn't wait to see Luke's skills in the water. Luke was pretty excited to show off, too.
