A note to the teething gods...

Dear Teething Gods,

Please, please, please can you make my top teeth come in faster? They are really hurting me right now, and my mommy is quickly losing patience. I don't want to sleep, I don't want to play, I just want to whine and cry because I'm in so much pain. There's only so much Motrin and Orajel a little boy can take!

Mommy says she can feel them under my gums and she doesn't think that they will come in for another few weeks. But I'm counting on you, Teething Gods, to prove her wrong.

Because I can't resist showing off pictures of this kid...here are my current favorites from yesterday...

Eating Out

For the past eight months, we've basically avoided eating out with Luke like the plague. Once he got past the "newborn baby sleeps through everything" phase, he became quite difficult in a restauruant because he will not sit in a high chair for longer than a minute (and don't EVEN try to leave him in the carseat - the whole restaurant will know his opinion on that one), he doesn't want to sit still, and all he wants to do is grab everything within his reach - which when you're holding him he has some distance with those hands...nothing is safe! So after about five to ten unsuccessful attempts at dining out, we decided that take out is the way to go.

Until now.

Tonight Luke and I met up with Nate in Dallas to spend some quality time with my dad while my mom is out of town for the week. We went to dinner at Pei Wei and decided to chance the restaurant rather than getting take out. Luke did great! I guess he has gotten used to sitting in his high chair at home while we eat dinner, so this wasn't really anything different to him. Except Mr. Curiousity had so much to look at and tons of people smiling at him because - let's face it - he's the cutest baby ever. He had so much fun eating his bananas and puffs while Dad, Nate & I ate, too. I was very proud of him! I guess when the mood strikes us, we can stop fearing the idea of Luke in the restaurant...as long as he gets something to eat as well!

Big Boy Bath!

Luke has officially outgrown his infant tub. We knew it was time to make the switch when all he wanted to do was climb out of the little tub. So tonight was Luke's first big boy bath! He loved it!

Sometimes I forget what life was like before he started crawling everywhere, pulling up on everything, and getting into anything he could get his hands on!

Happy Valentine's Day from Luke!

Luke wanted to wish everyone a very happy Valentine's day! We all hope that everyone had a great day with their sweethearts. I know that our Valentine's day was the best it has ever been. Not only do we have each other, but we have our precious little Luke to share it with.

A Little Boy

Look at my little boy. He doesn't even look like a baby anymore.

I Go Out Walking...

It was a nice afternoon so Luke, Daisy and I headed out on a walk. Just wanted to share a couple pics; they are from my phone so they aren't the best quality. But you can see how much Luke loves his walks!

8 Months!

Luke's first year is 2/3 of the way over.

I say this every month, but I can't believe how FAST the time is going by. He is just growing up so quickly. He definitely thinks he's too big for his britches, that is for sure. This past month has been very busy for Mr. Luke. He started eating solid foods on January 6th, and he really "got" eating with a spoon by January 8th. Now he loves carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, bananas, applesauce, peaches, and pears. He will halfway tolerate green beans, but don't EVEN try to give him peas. He freaks out! He even started letting me feed him oatmeal cereal yesterday - a major breakthrough!

Luke's second tooth broke the surface on January 8th. So now he's a two-tooth wonder. I think it's only a matter of time before his top teeth come in. (YIKES!!)

Luke also started pulling up on anything he could get his hands on about January 10th. His favorite things to stand up against include the window sill, his LeapFrog Learn n Groove Music Table, the couch, the fireplace (a no-no), and us!

This month, Luke started to self-feed a bit. He loves to eat Puffs and pieces of banana. My Mr. Independent thinks it's awesome to feed himself.

And finally, on January 30th Luke learned how to pull up in his crib! He thinks it is great fun. Since his crib is from the 1980's (it was my crib when I was a baby) and it has springs on the bottom, he has a ball rocking back and forth. He thinks it is the greatest! When we put him down for nap or bedtime, he has to get up and rock a bit before going to sleep. And it keeps him occupied when he wakes up, too.

I love watching the little lightbulb in his mind go off every day. It is a truly amazing thing to witness this little baby of mine become a little boy.

And now, the obligatory 8 month pictures. It is officially a NIGHTMARE to get him to sit still for pics, so this is all we got...

Luke & Daisy!

Luke's favorite thing to do is play with Daisy's squeaky ball. And if you know Daisy, you know that it is her all-time favorite toy in the entire world. So she doesn't so much appreciate Luke's interest in her ball. She is really good about sharing with her little brother. But as soon as the ball gets out of Luke's grasp, Daisy swoops in and grabs it!
