Teeth!

This is the first picture I've been able to get that shows off Luke's new teeth! They are not all the way in yet, but getting close. They sure are sharp, though!!

Sleep Tight, Little One.

There is something so adorable about a sleeping baby.

When it's time for Luke to go to sleep for the night, he usually goes down in his crib while he is still drowsy. He then scoots all around in the crib to find his "comfy spot" before he drifts off to sleep. The funny part is that the comfy spot is never in the same place!

Here he is cuddled up to the stuffed seal that his Big Papi gave him when he was born. I guess he felt like having a pillow on this particular night!

Luke's Latest Trick...

He's pulling up on everything he can get his hands on! It makes for a very interesting day!

I think he likes it!

Operation: Get this Kid to Eat Solids

HE DID IT!!!


Luke ate one 2.5 oz container of carrots tonight! Most of it actually went in his mouth, too. And to top it off, he ate the majority of it with a spoon!


Imagine me doing a happy dance right now - because I am!

Operation: Get this Kid to Eat Solids

For those who don't know, Nate and I have had nothing but problems since we started feeding Luke rice cereal back in October. The pediatrician had given us the go-ahead to start at his 4 month check up, so we did. At first it went okay, but quickly went downhill. He threw up every time he had both rice and oatmeal cereals. So we stopped cereal, but then tried some baby food - applesauce and sweet potatoes. Luke would SCREAM every time a spoon came near him, and any food that touched his tongue was immediately spit out. So we took a solid feeding hiatus. At his 6 month appointment, the pediatrician recommended putting some foods in a mesh feeder so he starts to get the taste of something other than breastmilk. Well he LOVES eating out of the mesh feeder, and is happy with apples, peaches, and pears (the only ones we've tried with him).

Well on his 7 month birthday, we started trying to spoon feed him again. I made a pear puree (since he loves pears so much) and we strapped him in his high chair. Again, the child freaked. He was not happy until we gave him the mesh feeder back! I'm sorry, Luke, but you CAN'T eat out of a mesh feeder the rest of your life!

Here's our new method: On Sunday night we put him in the high chair while we ate dinner with a teething biscuit (which is like a really hard cracker for him to chew on) and peaches in his feeder. He was happy as a clam. On Monday I let him play with some of the plastic spoons I had been using to feed him when we were playing in the floor. On Monday night, while we ate dinner, he was in the high chair again. This time with a teething biscuit, a container of applesauce, and a spoon. Well he ate the applesauce by dipping his teething biscuit in it. Then we tried the spoon again - and he ate from it! There was no freak out this time! PROGRESS!! (The picture 2 posts below is from last night).

Tonight we did the same thing, only with carrots. Success again! He would dip the biscuit in the carrots and eat them! And then he would eat some from the spoon! We definitely have made a step forward. I am so excited, it has been worrying me that he would never learn to eat anything!

Here is a video of him tonight. He still makes a "what the heck" face when he tastes the carrots, but it is a HUGE improvement from a screaming baby!

Houston, we have...

2 teeth!

Luke's first tooth broke through on December 21, 2007 (what a Christmas gift!) and the second has been right under the surface since then. As of this morning, the very tip of it has made its way through the gum! He's handling it like a champ, though. It's very sad for me to think that my baby is getting teeth!

I'll post a pic as soon as I'm able to get a good one of his chompers!

7 Months Old!

Another month is here, and that means that Luke is now 7 months old! It's unbelievable how fast he's growing. In the past month, he started sitting up unassisted for long periods of time; getting out of his sitting position without falling over; trying to pull up on short things; he cut his first tooth (the bottom right center incisor) and the bottom left center incisor is right under the surface; he went on his first vacation; he saw and played in snow for the first time; he ate apples, bananas, peaches and pears from a mesh feeder for the first time - and loved them!; and he celebrated his first Christmas and New Year's! It was a busy month for Luke!

He's getting harder and harder to photograph - the child will not sit still! But here's what we got...

Luke's first Christmas...

Luke's first Christmas was so much fun! It was awesome being able to share such a special holiday with him. Our celebrations began on Christmas Eve with the Stroder family in Emmett, and then we were with the Jenkins family in Dallas on Christmas Day!

Luke meets Santa!

We took Luke to meet Santa Claus on December 22, 2007. The cool thing is we took him to North Park - where the same Santa has been there for the past 19 years! He is the same Santa that Beth and I went to see when we were younger. I was SO excited that Luke got to meet him.

We're on the way to see Santa...Luke can't contain his excitement...

All the excitement was just too much...he had to take a little cat nap...
